I am crocheting granny squares again only this time they are round first then squared up in the last round. This pattern is from http://crochethealingandraymond.wordpress.com/2010/09/05/grandala-square-tutorial/ Sorry this is the best I can do at linking something….still learning. Hope it works, This is a great pattern and a very good tutorial. This newest one is very pretty. Looks like a field of pansies and marigolds. I need 150 and i have 140 done. Wow 10 more. Check out Lucy at http://attic24.typepad.com/ She is so inspiring even to a great-grammy like me.
Anyway, I am trying to connect with my slip sliding away blog….I am seeing that in times of stress I gravitate to my old favorite. I didn’t ever connect this before now! But, when I look back especially in the last few years every time my family gets chaotic, I grab my crochet hook and make squares. I currently have two finished afghans in my closet waiting for the right person to come along. Someone always does. I don’t mean to infer that we are in chaos frequently. More like all the time. Something is always going on. What else can I expect when I have 5 kids, 17 grandkids, several step grands, and soon to be 5 great grands, plus 1 step great grand! I love it but sometimes the giggles and story telling and fun are overwhelming for my husband. We are limiting some of these get togethers for his sake. Its okay…but I miss them sometimes. But then, sometimes these get togethers wear me out too.
So, in addition to making lots of lemonade, I crochet Granny squares. Whatever works. The time will come when I will be hard pressed to find the time to crochet as my husband will require more and more of my time. So, when that other shoe does fall, I will be ready with a snuggly afghan and a glass of lemonade.
